2013 Jesse Tree: Isaiah

Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-8
.
Event/Theme: Isaiah
.
Symbol we use: Angels!
.
Meditation: I have never read an account of someone encountering the Lord and feeling justified. In every instance I have heard about, directly experiencing God leaves a human being openly acknowledging their weakness before His greatness. The person who imagines standing before the King and not emulating Isaiah by regretting their unworthiness, is indeed a fool. Isaiah is included in our Jesse Tree because he recognized his sin and was cleansed; because he heard God's invitation to serve and responded; because he saw the Messiah coming and helped prepare the way for Him. No one who imagines themselves to be already holy is able to receive His cleansing, respond to His call, or prepare the way for His return.
.
Our angel decorations are beautiful. They bring lightness to our trees. Yet they fall far short of the beauty and glory of the angels described in the Bible, by Isaiah and by others. And those angels clearly and purposely fall far short of the beauty and glory of the Lord. Let the angel ornaments decorate your home. But let their beauty remind you of the great glory of the Creator, whom you also will one day encounter face to face.
