Lent Day 11

Matthew 14:22-33
Do you ever feel like fighting against sin is a losing battle? No matter how hard you try to avoid temptation and no matter how hard you try to not sin, you find yourself sinning anyway. It's as inevitable as sinking into a lake if you try to walk across the top of it. Yet as soon as Peter cried out to Jesus to rescue him, Jesus immediately reached out His hand to save him.
Our efforts to avoid sin are worthwhile and are effective. They are like walking on water, impossible for a mere human, yet Peter proved that we can do it when we are walking toward Christ Jesus and held up by His grace. We lose sight of Him so easily though, and begin to sink: we find ourselves falling into temptation and committing the same sin over and over again. When that happens, cry out to Jesus right away. He will always save you. He will always reach out and rescue you from drowning in the sin.
