Romans 5:10

Romans 5:10
Isn't it normally the losing party that seeks reconciliation with the enemy? Yet God was certainly not losing in any way when we made ourselves His enemies. We should have been suing for peace, trying to minimize our losses in a losing battle. We live in a world so transformed by the words and attitude of Christ that we don't even recognize that it is not "normal" that the victor should reach out His hand to us and freely offer reconciliation. We don't "deserve" a second chance. Christ's teaching to love our enemies (Mat 5:44) and His example of suffering and dying for our sake is entirely unexpected. In order to recognize the immense love He has for us it is important to realize that we made ourselves His enemy and yet He chose to reach out to us and offer reconciliation.
