Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25
Event/Theme: Joseph
Symbol we use: A lighthouse ornament with the words "guiding light" on it. My reasoning here is that Joseph followed God's guidance to make his decisions and as such was able to guide his family as the head of their home.
Meditation: Joseph was planning to quietly divorce Mary to avoid lying and to avoid causing her death. But God made it abundantly clear to him that Mary was telling the truth and this child was God's own Son. Joseph believed and followed God's direction, given to him by an angel. He was led on some incredible adventures yet through it all he trusted in the Lord and looked to God to guide his decisions.
