Matthew 23:11
Who do I serve each day? Far too often I serve myself, or my pleasures, or my vices. I serve God and His desires for me far less often than I should. What do I gain by this? I'm too content to eat the one marshmallow now even though I know beyond a doubt that I'll receive two if I just wait a little while. I gain so little by serving myself now especially when I compare it to the heavenly reward I am losing or even just the personal satisfaction and growth I could be receiving by serving God instead.
