Scripture: Deuteronomy 5:1-6 (or Deut 5:1-21 for the whole of the 10 Commandments)
.
Event/Theme: The Israelites at Mt. Sinai
.
Symbol we use: A little paper sketch of the two tablets of stone or an ornament of the 10 Commandments or of Moses.
.
Meditation: God wants us to know how to please Him. He does not keep His will and His commandments hidden so we're left guessing what is right or wrong (Deut 30:11). He doesn't keep Himself mysterious, unapproachable, unknowable. As difficult as it is to keep the 10 Commandments perfectly (and that is why we need our Savior, Jesus Christ), they are truly a gift to us. They are an opportunity to know the Lord, to know His character, and to know His will for us. God gave them to us because He wants us to live in the confidence and the certainty of knowing how to have a genuine relationship with Him.
