Romans 6:1
After the excitement of a holiday, eventually we return to the normalcy of ordinary life. Easter was exciting, made sweeter by the sacrifices of Lent, and for some Easter continues. Those in the Eastern churches celebrated their Easter just yesterday and those churches that focus on liturgical seasons continue the Easter season for 50 days after Easter Sunday but the celebration is a little more subdued after the Easter octave (Easter Sunday through the following Sunday). Our family continues to bring out the extra treats and postpone fasting until after Pentecost, but life begins to look a little more "normal" rather than festive. That's no reason to allow sin to continue however! Jesus has sacrificed His very life for us then risen from the dead to bring new life to us. Should we ignore that or thank Him for that while taken advantage of the opportunity to indulge in our sins? After all, He promises to forgive each and every sin we commit when we ask for His forgiveness. Yet God's grace is abundant and available, not so we can continue to sin but so we can experience the wonderful freedom from the chains of death and live in the victory of His resurrection.
