John 20:24-31
Most of us have a certain limit to our faith. We believe up to a certain point but if we're truly honest with ourselves, we have limits for what God can do, or at least to what we expect Him to do. I know He can and does work miracles. I've seen people healed and spiritually transformed and I have no doubt that He occasionally even raises people from the dead though I've never seen it myself. I believe in His ability to do far more amazing things at the request of a mere human such as stop the rain for 3 years (Elijah) or cause the sun to stand still for a whole day (Joshua), yet my lack of faith reveals itself in not expecting Him to actually do such things for me. We can wag our fingers at Thomas for not believing Jesus' resurrection, but for a man to raise himself from the dead is so spectacular that his faith-limit is understandable. Would you believe your friends hadn't just seen a ghost if you were Thomas? Whether or not you would believe their story, what is the limit of your faith? What would you consider impossible unless you saw it happen with your own eyes? The next step of course is to give God permission to break through that limit and bring you to the next level of faith. Jesus obviously knew where Thomas' limit was and He knows where your limit is. He broke through Thomas' limit to bring him to a place where he could accomplish more for Christ than he had ever imagined. When He breaks through your limit, you'll find similar fruit coming from your life.
