1 Corinthians 13:1-3
These are good activities which you should feel encouraged to do. Paul is not discouraging his readers from prophecy, faith, or almsgiving. But he is emphasizing the importance of love being present and evident in all our activities. As we near the end of Lent, take some time to consider whether your fasting and sacrifices have been carried out with love. They may be good sacrifices but what is your attitude? Have they increased your love of God and neighbor? Have you loved despite the challenges of the sacrifices? Don't make your efforts as worthless as a clashing cymbal; remember that the whole reason for the sacrifice in the first place is to improve your relationship with God and to love Him more. We have one more week before Easter; celebrate your relationship with Christ by loving Him and loving those around you through the sacrifices you choose to make.
