Lent Day 26

Ephesians 6:11-17
Most or all plants that live in the desert have a thick skin and prickles. They need protection from losing the water they've stored so carefully and from animals who would gladly eat them and gain access to that water. The delicacy of the lettuce leaves I grow in my garden would not survive even an hour in the desert where a cactus lives without trouble because of its thick skin and sharp needles.
We are also faced with predators who would steal the life-giving water offered to us. Satan will quickly separate us from Christ if we don't put on the armor He has offered us. Each piece of armor is a gift from the Lord offered to all who will accept it. Each piece will help protect us, but we really need the whole outfit if we are going to keep our faith despite constant attacks. Satan will attack every weak spot we offer him, through temptations, distractions, doubts, and outright lies. Don't give him the opportunity. Put on the armor Christ offers us--the whole armor.
