Choosing the winning team

Romans 12:9
Matthew 5:3-12
Gamblers bet on a long shot, but not on a definite loser. They may choose a football team that hasn't gone to the Super Bowl in more than a decade, but they won't choose a basketball team or a college football team as the most likely to win the Super Bowl. Their hopes may be dashed when their team loses again, but at least it has a (albeit slim) chance.
.
We place our hope in the Lord because we know He will certainly win. There is NO chance for His enemy to prevail against Him. It may seem at times in this life as if the opponent is the temporary victor, but he's been disqualified from the beginning of ever winning this game. He has no more likelihood of claiming victory than a basketball team of being invited to the Super Bowl.
.
We choose the path of righteousness despite the difficulties and persecutions we face because of our choice, for we know that in the end our choice will bring us far greater rewards and those who choose for comfort now will find themselves on the losing team, suffering the consequences for all eternity.
