Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

Happy Easter/Pascua/Resurrection Day! (see tomorrow's post for the different names)

.
After 40 days of Lent, our family is thrilled to spend 50 days celebrating Easter. A temporary moratorium on fasting (or at least traditional fasting), an excess of sweets, a daily thanksgiving that Christ defeated death to bring us eternal life. Today is just the beginning; this week is a continuation of that celebration; the coming weeks will be more subdued but still distinctly celebratory after the 7 weeks of intentional sacrificing. We'll be using secular ways to celebrate (candy!, butterfly garden) and spiritual (family conversations, Bible readings). We want there to be no mistake in our children's minds about the reasons for our celebration, yet we also want them to enjoy it and the secular activities are a helpful tool in that goal.
.
I hope you enjoy every minute of your celebration and that in the midst of the eggs and the feasting that you remember the reason to celebrate: Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
