Sailing Stones

Romans 8:6
Revelation 3:1-6
What appears to be alive is sometimes dead and what appears to be dead may in fact be alive. The world around us would like us to believe that it lives yet when we look at it through the eyes of God we know that its "life" is death. Just as the church in Sardis had the reputation of being alive, the glamour of this world can be very appealing. Maintaining a close relationship with the Lord can help us cut through the external to identify what is helpful for our own lives vs. what will destroy our eternal life.
.
I came across this article about sailing stones via another blog. Large rocks, quite dead of course, move across the valley floor leaving tracks showing their path. Looking at the tracks it would almost seem that the rocks were alive. But of course they are stones--stones can't possibly live (Lk 19:40). My neighbor's "living rock" cactus, on the other hand, looks quite dead but is a plant and is alive.
.
Is your mind alive or dead? Spiritually speaking, do you appear alive to others while hiding death inside yourself? Or do you look to the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and your worldview?
