3 Year Old Theologian

My 3yr asked me, "Mom, is Jesus dying today?"
"No, sweetie, He already died."
"Why can't He die again?"
My spur-of-the-moment answer was not as well thought out as I expected: "We can only die once. Death doesn't have the power over us that we have to die more than once."
"Elijah brought a boy back to life after he died." (1Kings 17:17-22)

Oops. I forgot that Daddy read this story to them this morning. She cut through my spontaneous theology quicker than I could think up a more accurate explanation at a 3yr old's level for why Jesus will never die again.
