Jesse Tree: John the Baptist

Scripture: Mark 1:4-8
Event/Theme: John the Baptist
Symbol we use: A seashell
Meditation: When we hurt another person, the right thing to do is to apologize and ask that person to forgive us. We need to do the same thing with God each time we sin. That's not always easy to do. Admitting ours sins can be unpleasant because the sins are ugly and admitting them means we have chosen the ugly rather than the holy. It was John's mission in life to remind the people of Israel (and all of us) that each sin damages our relationship with God and needs to be repented of. We need to take time to admit our sin and ask God to forgive us. Receiving God's forgiveness cleans us and makes us ready to enjoy Christmas more fully than we would with unrepented sin. Take time today to admit the sins you have committed and ask God to forgive you for each one of them.
