Jesse Tree: Jacob's Ladder
Scripture: Genesis 28:11-22
Event/Theme: Jacob's vision of a ladder to heaven
Symbol we use: I broke one popsicle stick into thirds, then glued the pieces between two other popsicle sticks to make a ladder.
Meditation: The thing that strikes me the most about Jacob's vision is how much he did not deserve it. He received this vision shortly after he left home after lying to his father and brother, and yet God gives him a dream promising to bless him and his descendants. God's mercy is incredible. He forgives us every time and even pours out His blessings on us even though we don't deserve it.
