Romans 4:17
Genesis 17:5
The difference between "make" and "create" lies in the material we start with. "Make" transforms material into something new, whether simple like leaves made into a pile for kids to jump in or complicated like flour, salt and water transformed into bread. "Create" means starting with nothing and producing something. Of course we all compliment one another on our "creations", meaning really something made in a unique way, but when we stop to consider the basic difference between our ability to make and God's ability to create, it gives us a renewed respect for the only Creator. Abraham's faith wasn't in just another being with a special ability to make things in a unique way. He put his faith in the only One able to create from nothing and work beyond the possible to raise the dead to life.
