Romans 3:13

Romans 3:13
Psalm 5:9
Psalm 140:3

Kids can be awful in their words toward one another but I don't think I've heard them describe someone's mouth as an open grave. But remember: Paul isn't keeping the Psalmist's application of "someone else" in the "other" group. In Romans, we are the "wicked" referred to in Psalms. Our mouth is an open grave, we are the ones with poison under our tongues. The easy response of course is to openly deny it. But take a moment instead to reflect on whether that's true. Is there corruption and deceit in the words you use? Do your words cause pain and mini-deaths in other people? Do they damage relationships, diminish people's opinions of you, or destroy ambitions and goals?
