PPT: Adoration
What does adoration mean, except to express Who and What God is? We can use our own words, we can paint a picture, we can sing a song, or we can read a prayer someone else has written. We can recite a creed, an expression of what we know about God and His interaction with us. Serving and loving other people well also honors God, but it's not enough by itself. We should do that, but we should ALSO set aside time to specifically give Him praise, not as a secondary consequence but as the focused main purpose of what we are doing. We receive a lot from doing this, since it strengthens our faith and reminds us why we believe the way we do. We reassert that the Lord is quite capable of taking care of us. But the true purpose of adoration is to worship God, to honor Him, not for His goodness toward us but because He is God. We may receive an abundance of blessings from Him, but even if we didn't we would still be obligated to honor Him. Taking time every day to fulfill this obligation is my most important job, so knowing these criteria to identify whether I've completed my task to the best of my ability Works for Me.
