Romans 1:2
What a privilege to be living in a time looked forward to and prophesied about for so many years! Paul wasn't ignorant about the prophesies of Isaiah, Daniel, Jacob, David, and so many others. And yet how different it must have been living in that time compared to their expectations of it! God's promises are always fulfilled to the very letter. Yet somehow they're not always what we expect them to be. It's easy now to look back at the prophesies of the Old Testament and see the predictions that were fulfilled so precisely in Jesus. But if they were so easy to understand before they were fulfilled, perhaps the Apostles would not have struggled so much between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.
